Event management is the process of planning an event. An event may be a birthday party, a lunch or dinner, wedding, tradeshow, product launch, a cricket match, prime minister addressing citizens at the ground or a festival. Examples can go on.
An effective Event Management requires excellent project management and communication skills. Often, multiple suppliers are involved and the event manager keeps a track of progress, budget and quality. Based on the size and complexity of an event, there might be 1 or more event planners working together on the event.
The key responsibility of an event manager is to plan and execute the event logistics to meet the event objectives by utilising the best available resources within the stipulated event budget.
An Event Manager might need to perform the following duties in order to manage an event -
Sourcing best venue for the event

Engaging speakers or entertainment
Theme and décor for the event
Land and/or air travel management
Obtaining necessary permits and appropriate insurance
Attendee management
Safety and security planning
Risk management
Monitoring execution and quality of the event
Budget management
Vendor payments
These are some examples, however, depending on the size and complexity of the event it might vary.
